It was a glorious morning in Boynton Beach as Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County dedicated two new beautifully-appointed homes built with a $160,000 value donation by the Boca West Country Club. Boca West has financially sponsored a total of five homes, providing new and safe housing for families in need.
“We are incredibly pleased to help the Singletary, and Cantave/Jerome families realize their dream of owning a home,” said Jay DiPetro, CCM (Certified Club Manager), President and COO, Boca West Country Club. “The Boca West residents and club will continue to support worthy causes in the community where we live, work, and play.”
Guests, friends, contractors, pro-bono contributors, volunteers and Boca West representatives toured the homes and enjoyed refreshments with the senior staff from Habitat, and the two new homeowners.
Both of the families put in 500 hundred hours each of “sweat equity” working on their homes throughout the construction process along with Habitat volunteers. The two families also met the Habitat homeowner requirements of attending workshops that address financial literacy, cleanliness and home maintenance, effective parenting, hurricane preparation, energy conservation, and more.
Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1991 and supports the communities of Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. The Habitat process goes back to the traditional values of reward through effort. Each partner family is required to pay back the actual cost of the home through a non-interest bearing mortgage, with monthly payments of principal, taxes, and insurance. The system is designed to build self-esteem in the partner families.
